Tobi Stone - Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet - Private Lessons

Seattle resident and Washington state native, Tobi Stone, performs energizing, fresh, jazz music. She has played locally and internationally with several bands. Her passion for music is shared through performance, teaching, composing, and recording. Current projects include: Tobi Stone Quartet, Melodia Jazz Duo, and Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra aka, SWOJO.

Past projects include The Tiptons Saxophone Quartet and Drums (formerly, The Billie Tipton Saxophone Memorial Quartet), Reptet, Jay Thomas’ Friendly Fire Big Band, Cambalachi, and the Imaginaires Rhythm & Blues band.

Tobi has performed with saxophonists Bert Wilson, Don Lanphere, Rick Mandyck, Warren Rand, pianists Dawn Clement, Gary Versace, Victor Januzs, Carolyn Graye, Reuel Lubag, John Hansen, bassists Evan Flory-Barnes, Geoff Harper, Jeff Johnson, Geoff Cook, Frank Clayton, guitarists Mimi Fox, John Stowell, drummers Elizabeth Pupo-Walker, Jose Martinez, D’vonne Lewis, Jeff Busch, John Bishop, vocalists Nancy King, Beth Winter, and trumpeters Jay Thomas and Jay Roulston. Tobi also appeared with Dave Brubeck at the 1994 Pierce Community College Jazz Festival.

Tobi began paying music at age 6, started clarinet at age 12, saxophone at 15, and flute at 20. She went to Kentridge High School and took band from the award winning band director, Paul Harshman. She graduated from University of Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, emphasis on Jazz Studies. There, she studied with Professors Marc Seales, Michael Brockman, Bill Smith, and Roy Cummings. She has also studied with pianist, Randy Halberstadt, and saxophone teachers Bert Wilson, Don Lanphere, Jordan Ruwe and Darren Motamedy. Tobi has taught private lessons on flute, clarinet and saxophone in the Seattle area for the last 12 years.
